About Kefalonia Island
The Greek island of Kefalonia - the Jewel of the Ionian Sea -
is one of the most mountainous, lush green and scenic of the
Greek islands. It is the largest of the Ionian islands with an
area of 781 kmē and a coastline of 254 km.
In the North and West, it has a rugged and beautiful coastline
while in the South and East there are large and sandy beaches,
with crystal clear waters. It is one of the few unpoilt
islands, very popular with those seeking peace, tranquility
and Greek culture. The character of the islanders, with their
customs, traditions and sense of humour evolved through the
long history of the island and is best depicted in the film
'Captain Corelli's Mandolin' which made such a hit at the
cinemas.
Kefalonia has mild meditteranean weather conditions, that make
it wonderful to visit for most of the year.
